Ethical breeding: What does it mean?

  1. All of our dogs live in a house—not locked in a kennel; some of our parent dogs live with us; some of them live in a Guardian home, then come to us to have and raise their puppies.
  2. Our puppies are raised in the house. This helps ensure that they get to see normal house sights and sounds to help prepare them for your home.
  3. Our parents are carefully selected for health, temperament, and looks. All our parents are health tested through OFA to the GANA Gold Level, which includes HIPS, ELBOWS, CARDIAC, PATELLAS, and EYES. Also, DNA tested for DM, Ichthyosis, NEWS, GR-PRA1, GR-PRA2, PRA-PRCD, VWD1, VWD2 and Coat furnishings. We want all our puppies to have a long, healthy life.
  4. We want to ensure that our puppies are taken care of their whole life, if there is ever a time you can no longer care for the puppy/dog, we will take him/her back or help find an appropriate home.
  5. Matching puppies: We spend a lot of time with the puppies, both individually and as a group, so we know them really well! We want the puppy to thrive in his/her new home. While all our puppies would do fine with kids, some of our puppies want to live with kids; some would prefer to be the constant companion of a retired person, while others love the adventure of going places. We find out about family dynamics, what is important to the families, and what they want in a dog long term. It's a fun process to watch the puppies development but not a fast one. We match puppies with families at or after 7 weeks based on temperament and personality.
